Using Proxmark as a card emulator - feasible?

Hello!
I am trying to use Proxmark3 as a card emulator in the development process for a piece of equipment that contains RFID reader. The sole task for Proxmark is emulating a 13.5 MHz card with given ID. I use 'mf hf sim u <ID>' to start emulation, wait a bit and then use 'hw ping' to stop emulation. The problem I encountered is that I cannot get Proxmark to simulate single card tap. It is ususally seen by the reader as two taps at least (or no tap if I wait for too short). Could you tell me if:

1) Using Proxmark in this scenario is a good idea at all?
2) I do not have the newest version of the software - maybe the behaviour has been improved? I tried searching issues section in GitHub, but maybe I have overseen something.
3) Maybe I just need to use different commands for that? It is just that these ones are the only ones that I could find.
