Smoke and mirrors

A client of mine tells me that a locksmith that visited them recently demonstrated the ability to easily create a physical clone of a standard HID prox card, and that apparently the locksmith did this with a simple device and proceeded to demonstrate it by opening the doors with the cloned card.

Does that all seem like smoke and mirrors to people?  Anyone aware of a way to make a physical clone of a standard HID prox card?

Re: Smoke and mirrors

Thanks - didn't actually realised HID provided a device themselves.

Re: Smoke and mirrors

After bright spot lights and truth serums the answer was a Key Master Pro 4 from Russia.  It can produce a physical clone of, among other things, HID Prox II, Indala and EM410x tags.  Interesting toy - I must acquire one.

Re: Smoke and mirrors

Yeah, I've come across this before:

Unfortunately,  their "English" pages still come up in Russian, but I'd be interested to know if anyone's actually seen any of this kit, or it's just the pretty pictures that they've photoshopped...

You can use Google to do a reasonable translation - go to google, click on translate (top left) and type in the URL.
