Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

Anyone out here willing to help a fellow proxmark3 newbie out over the phone, screenshare and/or webchat. I've been stuck for over a week after work hours just trying to get my development environment setup. I'm not a SW dev or expert but I am an Elect Egr. I need help for guidance through the setup for MacOS and Windows 10. My availability is in the evenings after 5pm (PST).

Here's a thread I've started for my requests that may give you some insight.

Thanks!

-Jay

"after 5pm (PST)"

part1
If it's 5pm Pacific Standard Time (PST), it's 1am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). You have good my friend, I know many proxmark3 crazies only sleep for 2, 3hrs before back to work..

"Anyone out here willing to help a fellow proxmark3 newbie out over the phone, screenshare and/or webchat."
Hummm , that reminds me of the film "The Girl House" and the msg, after they teased wakening you up enough "If you like more, you should book a private session ... bye bye.... hihihi....hic"

part2
if no private session booking...

You got an old Mac? send to me! I will setup for you to compile SW upto march 2017 version in homebrew.

You got an ole window book? send to me! I will setup for you to compile SW upto May 2017 version in proxspace.

part3
Or stay up on week-end, agree with s.o. a time and stick to the ball.

part4
We give you many solutions already. Particularly in window I don't see that big problem, just stick with the ball

part5
Have you setup driver, no need to wait for PM3? have you setup upgraded proxspace

Re: Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

@ntk thanks this weekend I'll be out of town. But if I don't find any takers for a private sesh throughout the week (PST time). Can you do next Saturday May 20th AM your time? Not sure how early you can start? We can use a screen share app or skype/FaceTime. Thanks!

Re: Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

To share screen internet I need bandwidth, so ideally at the week-end I have time only  from 11PM GMT Sat to 9:00 GMT Sun. Working day I am available from 11:00 PM until 1:00 AM GMT.  In other time I am on mobile data not very fast and have very limited GB

Still we can divide the work into chunks and do step for step until finish, that may be not quick enough for you but to setup for windown it should be alright. Stick to one thread, post questions accompanied with log or screen captures, and soon you will get answer. avoid jumping around too much.

Never used skype/facetime for screen share purpose. I guess we could use teamviewer, not sure how fast it is nowadays, in 2004 its speed was not very impressive. What you mean for screen share. I install screenleap to see how it works today, is that what you mean

Re: Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

Anyway here is the plan
Do first installation in window OS. Once you know what happened, you can pull parallel logic and do it your self in other linux, mac OS

part1
we want to clarify what you have for HW
pm3 from where? how old? if 2nd hand no matter, it shows a lot more courage to recycle old equipment,  bring new life into them.

we want to see what is in your device manager, any msg when PM3 plugged in. also In System\Device manager\View chose the option "show hidden device" pay attention to the PORT, what already in there.

installation of device driver proxmark3
(many surprise here my HP pavillion window7 ultimate SP1 new installation complains about unsigned PM3 driver, but accept without any further action; In opposition to that HP pavillion HP 620 has same window7 ultimate SP1 used for sometimes, obviuously has few window upgrade sessions, refuses unsigned driver, I must run it in permanent "test mode". So SP1 is not always SP1, and HP is not like another HP, a lookalike USB port not behaves same even on same computer.)

testing of readiness of PM3 on computer system.

part 2
setup build environment tools
git\zip official release SW
test build with "make clean all"

part3
re-flash PM3 to CDC USB if it is a very old PM3 device
test on readiness on HW front
understanding flash procedure & Modification of Makefile for running conveniently "make flash-all"
testing on safe and readiness to convenient running of "make clean all flash-all" at any new release

part4
testing of operation in terminal
testing of operation in GUI

part5
git\zip latest fork release
test build
test operation.

Re: Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

@ntk

As for the Hardware I purchased it from http://hackerwarehouse.com/product/proxmark3-kit/. I did not receive any documentation with the device but I can reach out to them and ask. His office/wearhouse is near to where I work.

As you can see in the Device Manager when I plug in the pm3 to the computer proxmark-3 RFID Instrument is recognized but the Ports -> Proxmark3 (Com4) remains greyed out. I have updated the drivers.

Are you available tomorrow May 18th 12pm to 1am GMT?

Thanks again!

Re: Request for help via screen share & webchat - MacOS and Windows 10

yes i will be there, May 18th 0:01AM to 1am GMT. You mean tonight.

Strange that they did not update the SW for you. your PM3 is indeed still in the HID state. Hence you see when plugin it appears as libusb-win32 devices.  I guess, if you click on "ProxMark-3 RFID Instrument" it would report "this driver is working properly."

So we are on the right way.

Next is to get your build environment correctly

then take a recent SW release, and prepare the medicine for your PM3.

@ntk thanks for being Uber-helpful! We worked for over 2-hrs and made a lot of progress. I'll post up some key pointers after we get through this. Still working the kinks.
