What is the difference between "125kHz EM" and "HID Prox"?

I've seen some reader manufacturers offer two different model options for their devices: "125kHz EM" and "HID Prox". What is the difference? Thanks

Are you referring to modulation?
EM is ASK.
HID Prox is FSK.
...(and Indala is PSK).
